Old Castle Farm Pork and Beef
Maddaford pigs and beef cattle
have been living on the Blackdown Hills for the last fifteen
years.
We try to ensure that our
animals are reared as well as possible, no GM food, homeopathy
where possible, no farrowing crates, groups on straw.
We have various pig breeds,
including British Saddlebacks and Durocs, these are bred for
pedigree sale, showing, weaner sales and pork.
Beef breeds include Devons and
Belgian Blues, with a mixture between, which are then used for
our home produced beef boxes. We have a cutting room on the
farm, where Pru cuts and packs both pork and beef.
As Old Castle Farm pork we
attend farmers’ markets at Wincanton (1st Friday)
and Crewkerne (3rd Saturday) and Stockland (last
Saturday) where we sell our sausages, chipolatas, pork joints,
dry cured bacon and other tasty products.
